29 January 2015 – During a press conference with Mr. Ahmad Alhendawi, the United Nations Envoy on Youth, he stated his commitment to facilitating discussions between the Fair Internship Initiative and relevant UN actors. We are thankful for this commitment and are looking forward to “walking the talk” with Mr. Alhendawi to end unfair internships. Let’s move!
Yesterday, FII UNHQ hosted an intro meeting for new members. Thanks to everyone for coming, we had a great night and hope to see you all at many more of our meetings and events this year. Let’s work together to make internships fairer!
Our colleagues in Geneva are now called Fair Internship Initiative – FII Geneva!
Geneva and New York interns have been coordinating with each other for the past months to streamline our actions. We hope that having the same name will contribute to a more coherent and unified message in advocating for fairer internships.
Have a look at the Facebook feeds on the right to stay up to date on both the Geneva and the New York activities!
To raise awareness of the Fair Internship Initiative and in the interests of good holiday cheer, we sang some carols out the front of the UN Secretariat last week more photos are available in the Gallery. Thanks to everyone who came along – see you all next year!
“Youth should be given a chance to take an active part in the decision-making of local national and global levels”. -UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon
On Tuesday 22 September – to mark the beginning of the High-Level Plenary Meeting of the UN General Assembly – interns linked their hands to express our solidarity to all the youth who couldn’t afford interning at the UN.
